First off, let me welcome you to Clockwork Cottages… I’m delighted you’ve found us, and I hope you enjoy checking out our website.
If you come and stay, you’ll quickly see that our accommodation looks as wonderful in real life as it does in the pics! But I’m getting ahead of myself…
Why do we love offering our cottages to guests?
Me, my husband, Stephen, and our two boys, Simon and Robert, moved to the Moorlands from Nottinghamshire in 2000. If you know this area, you’ll understand why we fell in love with the place immediately; it’s the perfect haven for making a home.
When we first came, we farmed 10,000 free-range chickens, which kept us busy, as you can imagine. And, with so much going on, it wasn’t until 2013 that we started to look at how we could make more of the AMAZING location of the farm.
At this point, our son and his wife jumped at the opportunity to convert one of the barns into their home. However, when they then moved to Leek, Stephen and I decided to test out a new adventure by listing the property on Airbnb.
People loved it!
Yes, it’s true to say we haven’t looked back since dipping our toe in the water.
Every week we meet fabulous new people and welcome returning faces who can’t get enough of the place.
Obviously, we’ve stayed away occasionally ourselves and know what a difference it makes when the host makes an effort. So, it gives us a real buzz to ensure our guests’ stays are perfect. And, as we still live in the main farmhouse on the site, we’re always nearby, so it works well for everyone. (You might even see us walking past occasionally, as our house is runs to the rear of the cottages. But don’t worry, we’re not checking up on you!).
So, if you would like to come and stay, we look forward to welcoming you to our gorgeous little piece of the Moorlands. And for a short time, you too can share it with around 50 pedigree Dexter cows, three cats, and a handful of chickens.
