Yes, there are dozens of footpaths providing easy access to the countryside. You can enjoy a 6-mile hike in Cheadle, which features a beautiful route by the river with stepping stones.
Is there a place to eat and drink within walking distance?
The nearest pub is within walking distance, approximately a 30-minute walk from the cottages.
Are there any outdoor activities available?
Absolutely! The area is popular for mountain biking with trails for all skill levels, from family-friendly routes to steep enduro and downhill tracks. Additionally, Dimmingsdale offers some of England’s finest sandstone bouldering crags for rock climbers.
How far is Alton Towers from Clockwork Stays?
Alton Towers is just a 10-minute drive away, making Clockwork Stays the perfect place to relax after a busy day at the theme park.
Check In/Check Out
What are the check-in and check-out times?
- Check-in is from 4 PM.
- Check-out is by 10 AM.
Unfortunately, we cannot offer earlier check-in or later check-out due to the time required to prepare the property for guests.
How do I access the property?
You will have access to the property through a private entrance located on the side of the Farmhouse. This entrance opens into a utility/entrance room, perfect for storing boots, cycling, and hiking gear, and then leads into the main living area.

How will I find the property?
Upon booking, we will send you easy-to-follow directions to the property.
Is there parking available?
Yes, there is space for two cars. Please inform us of your parking needs when booking so we can accommodate you. Additional parking can be arranged for an extra charge.

Are Clockwork Stays party houses?
No, Clockwork Stays are intended to be peaceful havens, not party houses. Parties and events are not allowed. The cottages are ideal for families and groups seeking quiet relaxation, walks, or a trip to Alton Towers.
Are Clockwork Stays located on a working farm?
Yes, Clockwork Stays are on a working farm. While you won’t be disturbed by tractors or early morning milking, there are around 50 Dexters cows on the farm. They are kept in a shed during winter and in the fields during summer, so you may hear some mooing.
Can I bring pets to Clockwork Stays?
No, we cannot allow pets due to the cattle on the farm. We apologize, but no dogs or cats are permitted.
Is Wi-Fi available at Clockwork Stays?
Yes, Wi-Fi is available via a 4G hotspot connection through EE, with download speeds of up to 15MB. However, it may require occasional reconnection. If a solid Wi-Fi connection is crucial for your stay, Clockwork Stays may not be suitable for you.
Can I have additional guests stay at Clockwork Stays?
Additional guests will incur extra charges. Please ensure the number of guests staying is accurately reflected when booking.

Definitely! The cottages offer a perfect haven for brides, grooms, and their parties the night before the big day. They are immaculate, well-stocked, and very comfortable, providing plenty of space to get ready.
How far are the wedding venues from Clockwork Stays?
Foxtail Barns and The Ashes Barns are both just a 15-20-minute drive away. Taxis to and from these locations are easy to arrange, and Sharon can provide numbers for booking.
Is there enough space for my bridal party to get ready?
Yes, there is plenty of room for the bride and her bridesmaids to prepare, relax, and enjoy some quality time together before the wedding. Similarly, the groom, his best man, and ushers can enjoy a peaceful environment to finish preparing their speeches.
Will I get a good night’s sleep before my wedding?
You will definitely sleep well if you can let yourself! The cottages provide a quiet and comfortable environment to help you relax before the big day.
